2018 Women’s Entrepreneurship Day

What Is Women’s Entrepreneurship Day?

Women’s Entrepreneurship Day (WED) is part of Global Entrepreneurship Week, which is held in November each year. WED honours the achievements of women in business across the world. This year, #GEW2018 is marked by a wide variety of events and activities in over 170 countries. It encourages entrepreneurs to connect, collaborate and support each other in their endeavours.

When Did It All Begin?

The Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Organization was introduced in 2013 by humanitarian and entrepreneur, Wendy Diamond. She wanted to have a day which was dedicated to supporting and empowering women in business internationally.

This year, we are holding 2018 Women’s Entrepreneurship Day on Wednesday 14th November at The Village Hotel in Blackpool.

Founder of Pink Link, Coral Horn, saw the positivity that was sparked when women came together in a group. She held her first Women’s Entrepreneurship Day in 2015 and said: “We see so many fantastic businesses led by women who are determined to make a difference. It was the ideal opportunity to hold a Women’s Entrepreneurship Day of our own.”

Women’s Entrepreneurship Day continues to be one of the most popular events in the Pink Link calendar. Each year, our event is reaching a wider group of women who continue to build a strong business community.

Don’t Underestimate The Power of Women

Women continue to face huge obstacles in their working life.  Too often, women feel penalised for taking a career break to look after their family. Many have been affected by the gender pay-gap, career progression issues or the everyday juggling of work, home and family. A growing number of women are running their own business. Whilst bringing satisfaction and a sense of achievement, it can also be a scary, isolating and worrying experience.

However, with the support of other women in business, they can discuss problems and find solutions.  It helps them to gain confidence, find resources and see their business thrive.

Coral Horn said: “Don’t get us wrong, we are not anti-men. We work with men in a number of organisations and situations. However, there is something very special that happens when women come together; they help each other succeed.”

Who Can Come?

All women in business are welcomed. Regardless of whether you own your business, are employed, freelance, setting up a new business or shaking up a tired one.

Our Women’s Entrepreneurship Day will bring together over 100 women from across the North West.  Together, these female entrepreneurs will network, talk about ideas and innovations and build stronger business relationships.

When women come together, their energy acts as a catalyst to help one another reach their full potential.
