Unique Kidz and Co - A Charity for Disabled Children and Young People with Disabilities
Founded in 2009, Unique Kidz and Co was set up by two mums, Denise and Jane when they were unable to find suitable childcare for their own disabled children..
As mums, they'd always known that one size doesn’t fit all. Everyone is unique. For years they struggled, like so many other parents, to find the balance between work and suitable childcare. Unable to find anywhere that catered to their children’s specific needs, they decided to set something up themselves!
They had no experience in childcare or business and spent two years attending courses. They also spent a lot of time talking to other parents to find out what they needed. After months of gruelling research, legalities, training and business planning they created Unique Kidz and Co.
In the summer of 2009, they proudly opened the doors. Unique Kidz and Co’s first ever Summer Holiday Club ran with 65 children attending. Over the years the services have grown along with their children. They now run from their own building based in Morecambe and in 2016 opened 4Ever Unique to offer daytime support for young adults up to the age of 25.
The aim of the charity is to advance the social and play opportunities of children and young people with additional needs and disabilities and to include their siblings.

Blackpool's world famous trams operate 11 miles along the busy promenade calling at all the tourist locations from the Golden Mile and Pleasure Beach to the three piers and the Sandcastle Centre. Talk to us about advertising on our trams.
History of Blackpool Transport
Blackpool has the oldest electric street tramway in the world with records dating back to 1884 when track plans were produced for an electric tramway that would connect North and South Shore. Blackpool Corporation paid for and maintained the infrastructure, whilst the Blackpool Electric Tramway Company, formed in January 1885 provided the electrical equipment, depot and tramcars. The tramway opened on the 29th September 1885. After the second world war, there was gradual consolidation and by 1962, the trams were confined to the 11 mile route from Starr Gate to Fleetwood which still operates today.
The bus services expanded along with the town throughout the sixties, seventies and eighties. Since bus deregulation in 1986, the trams and buses have been operated by Blackpool Transport Services Ltd, a Blackpool Council Company.
While the trams themselves are owned and run by Blackpool Transport, the tramway infrastructure is currently owned by Blackpool Council and leased to the Company, which pays an annual track rental fee for the privilege.
The bus services suffered from local competition throughout the 1980s and early 90s, culminating in the purchase by Blackpool Transport of the former Lytham St Annes corporation services, which by 1993 were running as Blue Buses. The Blue Buses depot at Squires Gate was kept for several years until all operations were consolidated on one site at Rigby Road.
