Making homemade almond milk is a super easy and very quick way to have an alternative to animal milk. Creating homemade almond milk allows control over the amount of sweetness and additional flavours.
All you need is two ingredients!
Place 50g-100g of almond into a blender filled with 700g of water and blend for 2 minutes.
Then pour the almond through a nut milk bag (I used a produce bag that can be found in the produce section in the supermarket for just 30p).
Squeeze out all of the liquid until only pulp remains in the nut milk bag. Ensure the milk is collected in a mixing bowl and transferred into an airtight bottle.
For additional optional flavours, you can add in the blending stage: salt, dates for sweetness, vanilla, cacao powder, or berries.
Almond milk lasts 4-5 days.
Benefits to Almond Milk Almond milk is lactose-free and great for lactose intolerance as an alternative to traditional dairy drinks and replacing animal milk. Almond milk is a source of magnesium, controlling blood sugar levels, and unsweetened almond milk is low in calories and carbs compared to animal milk. Almond milk is also full of Vitamin E, an antioxidant known to help your brain and lower the risk of cognitive diseases like Alzheimer’s Disease.
