Attending an Event – What Do You Want To Achieve?

To help you make the most of your experience as an attendee at a Pink Link event we’ve put together our top 5 tips:

Plan Ahead and Set Your Objectives

Consider what you want to achieve. Attending an event costs you time and money so you want to make it work for you and the business. This could include generating leads, building your contact list, improving relationships, expanding awareness of your brand, checking out the competition, market research and raising your profile. Whilst we’re here to do business, some of the best business leads come from the relationships you build in a social setting. Make time to have a chat over coffee and get to know the people on your table over lunch.

Nail Your Networking

You don’t need us to tell you how important networking is for your business. There will be lots of networking opportunities to make new connections and nurture existing ones.

Check out the businesses who are sponsoring, exhibiting and attending and reach out to connect and say hello. It’s a great way to start a conversation and expanding your network before you’ve put a foot through the door.

Engage with the speakers. Follow them on social media and send a message saying you’re looking forward to their talk. Find out what they’re going to talk about. If it’s a topic you particularly relate to let them know and share your experience.

Before the event, we will share the Attendee List. Check out who you know and who you want to get to know. There may be names on there that you haven’t seen for ages or maybe there’s been a change in a business and there’s new people for you to meet.

There may be businesses that you want to work with either as a supplier or a collaborator. Face to face events are particularly useful for opening doors to opportunities and creating a warm introduction so make sure you make the most of them.

Promote Your Business

Use the event graphics and hashtags and get involved on social media. Add your logo or a photo of yourself – or both! It’s a great way to promote your brand and let people know who you are in advance of the event. Get involved in the conversation and let your customers, suppliers and peers know you are attending the event. Let’s make some noise and get you and your brand noticed. Tag us into your posts and we’ll share them too.

Your Contact Information

Bring your business cards! Although we’re seeing a move towards virtual and environmentally friendly cards, the printed business card is still a popular method of sharing information. There will be plenty of people who you haven’t met before and you might hit the jackpot with the business box draws and competitions.

Follow Up Leads

After the event, don’t forget to set some time aside to follow up your connections. Drop a note or message to the ones you know saying how lovely it was to see them again. Email over your details to your new connections and if relevant, send them more information about your products or services or remind them that you’re looking forward to receiving theirs.

You might want to arrange for a coffee or to suggest another event that you think may be of interest to them.
